After seeing the movie for the first time, I was captivated by the atmospheres Desplat created, and I wanted to figure his music out on the piano. The genius of Desplat, lies not only in his ability to capture the essence of the film in his work. In this occasion, he used some of the movie’s subjects, coding and algorithms, as a means of writing his music. Some of the soundtracks, as he said in an interview (http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/alexandre-desplat-on-imitation-game-the-turing-machine-and-hints-for-unbroken), had been written with the help of computers, that produced random/algorithmic results, which Desplat used as layers, blending and enriching them that resulted to this masterpiece. I also find beautiful, the way he uses certain motives of the film into his soundtracks, for example, repetitive sounds and strange rythms, that imply a ticking clock, the wheels of the computer or inside Turings head and the code sendings.
